Digital Objects: Ann’s Digital Exhibit

My exhibit are items that are archived at the northwest regional Library in Panama City, Florida.

I added the dolphin statue, the Painting of a soldier, a brick that was part of home built in 1933, Tarpon Boat oil painting, Model of a boat. They are all archived at the Bay County Library main branch. The metadata fields I used to describe were Creator, date, description, and image. I chose the creator field so that you will it will be clear where the information originated. Date field to show when the item was added to the collection. Description to help the reader understand more of the item and its origin. The image to see the item. My metadata will provide another source to find these items outside of the library’s database. The local Library has lots of artifacts from local community members that can be seen at our branch. One challenge would be choosing items. I was trying to decide on a theme and would not be able to find 5 items that could be grouped together or would find something more interesting and change. They could be grouped together by paintings. Someone looking for model boats would not have to search through pages to find all of the model boats we have archived if they were grouped together. This will help customers who do not have the funds to enjoy art and help people who are interested in the art exhibit for informational purposes. People missing out on the experience of visiting a museum. Also being around people with like interest. I see them utilizing some of their collection as online so that it will entice them to want to come in and see more of the collection. I believe making some of the collection available will help increase visitor numbers.
