Description
Brick from the home located at 1260 W. Beach Drive. The home was the former residence of James Robert Asbell (1892-1970) and his wife Lula Mae Gray Asbell (1898-1966). The home was built in 1933 and is believed to have been built by Asbell. He was a general contractor owning J. R. Asbell Concrete Block Company, he was Panama City mayor from 1946-1948, and he also served on the state road board from 1932-1936. The Asbell family resided there until 1970; in the early 1970s it was purchased by the Eubank family to present (2018). The majority of the home was demolished on April 3, 2018. The brick is coated with several layers of white paint. For more information on the home see the Local History Room at Bay County Public Library, vertical file: Building History.
