Description
Temper-ware ceramic mug by Lenox was manufactured beginning in 1974 and was advertised as stronger than stoneware, earthenware, and ironstone. The Quakertown pattern was one of 8 designs offered in this super ceramic. It was made of ceramic and further strengthened by the addition of lead! In addition, the decorative painting designs may have contained arsenic. This mug has a classic 1970s yellowish ceramic color with a green band at the top. The flower design features a large yellow flower with pink center flanked by small pink, yellow, and blue flowers with green leaves and stems. This mug shows a lot of wear with scratches and a crack under the handle, but it is not chipped. The bottom print includes the type of product (Temper-ware) name of company (Lenox), and the pattern (Quakertown). Also printed on the bottom, "Microwave Oven Safe" and "Freezer to Oven to Table to Dishwasher." Compared to other ceramic mugs, this one is heavy.
